Do you know what doesn't mix well with kittens? My domino. That's what!
My poor filofax has been subjected to paw prints, bottoms and most horrendous to watch: Flossy tries to ping the elastic if you don't keep an eye on her. Not only that but tiny scratches have started to appear. No one else seems to be able to see them, but I am accutely aware that they are there. So guess who's shopping for a protective pouch for her filofax?
How do you keep yours protected?
Oh no sorry to hear about what happened to your planner. You should see me try to protect my planner from my bros when they want to touch it lol. The Saffiano material is very nice as I can just throw it in my bag and nothing really happens to it. But I know this is not the case for the leather/ faux leather planners as my mini metropol has scratches on it mostly from my nail. There are a couple of protective planner covers on Etsy especially that might take ur fancy.

Thanks Joanny. Sorry to hear about yours too. So Joey Creates has some nice covers, I'm pretty tempted by hers.

I had a cat many years ago ago put teeth marks in my brand new leather Franklin Planner. I was extremely upset. My husband wisely said, "Someday when he's gone you will treasure that little imperfection." That precious fur baby has been gone quite a while now, and he was absolutely right. Every time I see those little bite marks my heart is warmed by the memory of him.
ReplyDeleteAww that's lovely Valerie, fur babies have a way of leaving paw prints on our hearts. You're right, I may not be a fan of those scratches now but there will come a time when they serve as previous memories.

ReplyDeleteI have taken rings out of my a5 Malden but I still use the covers and take them everywhere I go. It has served the ungrateful duty of coffee cup placement, tray, carrier of the most varied things between the pages... I toss it in the bag, in the shopping cart and when out with my son.. it too has become familiar with butt- placements alongside with dusting by sand, it has been placed atop of stone, it has been subjected to rain, snow frost etc... I don´t use a dustbag, it do not protect it in any way or fashion. I condition it and it looks fairly new.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip, I'll look into that too. Especially if a dust bag isn't going to make too much of a difference :-)
DeleteWell, I only can spean of my Malden. I have no personal user experience of Dominos so this is really only my personal experience. And even in planner "siblings", leather can be total opposites of each other. I bought two a5 Maldens (both with less than desirable rings) and the other was smooth and silky and felt finer, was visibly thinner. The one I use as my "one book" has more grainy, thicker leather. I doubt the thinner and more silkier leather could withstand this amount of regular abuse.
DeleteThat's interesting that even between two maldens the leather could be so different. How curious :-)
DeleteAnd they both are ochre but entirely different. My friends and acquaintances never would believe they were same brand and same model- for when I carried both to meetings because they do cause attention, being so large and visibly leather and entirely uncommon in my corner of the world.
